In our second episode we face a new challenge: boat-life in lockdown. After sailing to the Isle of Wight in the English Channel at the end of March 2020, we arrive at a lovely town called Cowes only to find out that the whole country went into lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The day after we arrive, the Cowes Yacht Haven closes its doors and while we’re allowed to stay at the berth and have access to fresh water and shore power, we have to get used to marina-life without the facilities. Showering on the boat and washing our clothes by hand becomes a daily routine and we are happy that at least the weather is unusually dry for England.
Unable to leave or explore the island, we also decide to get crafty and start several jobs on the in- and outside of our sailboat. Meanwhile March turns to April and when Kathis birthday is around the corner, she bakes a cake and still finds reasons to celebrate.
